Every evening after work, I (Karthik Kamalakannan) would chase curiosity down rabbit holes — an article on design, a research paper on AI, a screenshot of an old-school interface (like MacOS X Snow Leopard). I was obsessed with learning, but there was a problem.
I kept losing what I learned. I’d remember reading something valuable, but couldn’t recall where or when. Notion, Apple Notes, reMarkable, Freeform—I tried everything. Each tool did one thing well. But none moved as fast as my brain.
In April 2023, I gave up searching and started building. I called it SaveOS—my personal knowledge engine. It was built for one thing: fast, frictionless memory. Not to “take notes” but to think better.
Over the months, I kept refining it. Then I showed it to a few friends. A researcher. A founder. A designer. They didn’t just like it—they wanted it.
That side project is now Knol—a fast, private, personal knowledge system built to match the speed of your thoughts.
The project is partially funded by Skcript, so Knol can keep evolving into something truly useful.
